Kesi Bed Hanging, China, early 20th century, woven and painted with a pair of magpies and butterflies flying amidst a plum blossom tree, a peony tree, and a narcissus plant on a beige ground, the two tassels woven with butterflies and flowers on a light green ground, with brocade trimmings, lg. 72 in. Provenance: From the estate of Richard Young, Van Hornesville, New York. This collection originally belonged to his stepmother, Louise Powis Brown Young, who had amassed the textiles during the first quarter of the 20th century.
