Kesi Panel, China, early 20th century, of lime green silk woven with shuangxi characters in gold-wrapped threads, with a kesi border woven with orchids and butterflies on black ground, 36 1/2 x 62 1/2 in. Provenance: From the estate of Richard Young, Van Hornesville, New York. This collection originally belonged to his stepmother, Louise Powis Brown Young, who had amassed the textiles during the first quarter of the 20th century.
