Continental (possibly French or Italian), 19th century. Carved and stained walnut wood armchair in Renaissance Revival style with rectangular back with guilloche banding at top above turned columns between carved leaf ornament, lower section of back slat with shaped scrolled foliate accents. Barley twist arms terminating on carved ram's heads with curved horns, seat with removable cushion with sage green and gold fabric upholstery and tassels on a caned seat. Apron with similar scrolled foliate carving as found on back. Armchair raised on barley twist legs with floral patera blocks and turned and barley twist cross supports. Approximate height 41.5", width 24", depth 23.5", seat to floor 21.25".
