Likely, British, 19th century. Georgian William Marfton grandfather clock with tall carved, stained, and inlaid oak wood case with split swan's neck pediment at top with brass accents above black lacquered and gilt decorated scrolled foliates spandrels above an oval reeded frame surrounding hand painted clock face or dial marked "Wm Marfton Salop" with black Arabic numerals, small second dial and figural medallion at top of young woman looking over a globe (possibly allegorical figure symbolizing Time) flanked by oval medallions with gilt stars and scrolling. Fretwork at lower corner spandrels of hinged door protecting dial. Case with Neoclassical fluted columnar supports. Overall raised on bracket feet at bottom. Approximate height 93, width 23", depth 10".
