Parcel-gilded and Painted Mahogany Veneer Demilune Cabinet, 19th century, the crossbanded top painted with a medallion and floral festoons, on conforming case fitted with an acanthus-carved frieze above two central drawers with further painted festoons and recessed tambour doors, flanked by framed panels with central medallions painted with bouquet-filled urns, on four circular tapered carved legs, ht. 36, wd. 48 1/2, dp. 20 1/2 in. Top surface with only very slight abrasions consistent with usage, and areas of veneer (particularly to edge) which are dry and cracking. Small scattered areas of chips and losses to applied moldings some with later replacements. Vertical crack to back panel. Small scattered areas of veneer chips, loss and lifting.
