Japanned Commode, 20th century, demilune shape, decorated throughout with gilt chinoiserie scenes against a red-painted background, with two small doors enclosing large interior compartment, raised on four tapered and cuffed legs, ht. 38 3/4, wd. 37 1/4, dp. 18 in. Scattered loss, inpainting, and craquelure to Japanning. Shrinkage cracks. Back with ventilation holes and holes for wiring. Usage wear: nicks, gouges, scuffs.
