Pair of George III Mahogany Knife Boxes, each of typical form, interior lid inlaid with a star, with original fitted compartments, ht. 15 1/8, wd. 8 3/4, dp. 11 1/2 in. Both with dry, cracked veneers and scattered loss, nicks, and wear. One with damage to lock, one hinge lacking pin, and large cracks to center of cover and body. The other with patch to lock, crack to side of cover, and loss to molded edge of base to one side.
