Russian Processional Icon Depicting the Crucifixion, late 19th/early 20th century, in the form of a cross showing the God the Father in the clouds at the top flanked by the sun and moon, above Christ crucified with the spear and sponge on a reed to each side, below him shows the skull and bones of Adam, ht. 17 3/4, wd. 9 3/4 in. Scattering worming to back and sides. Craquelure throughout. Scattered nicks to the paint particularily along edges. Some nicks to wood panel back. Cracking to paint and gesso ground along joints.
