Continental School, Possibly Affortunato Gory (Italian/French, fl. 1895-1925) Nature Unveiling Herself Before Science, the gilt-bronze, plaster, and marble figure after the original by Louis-Ernest Barrias (French, 1841-1905), cast with a long robe over her head and draped across her waist with a corset decorated with rosettes, standing on a circular bronze base, signed "A. Gori," ht. 30 7/8 in. N.B. See lot 757. Head, neck, breasts and arms portion a later plaster replacement with one hand broken off but present. Feet original marble.
