Wailes and Strang (British, 19th Century) Presentation Drawing for a Stained Glass Window Inscribed and dated "Wailes and Strang/NewCastle on Tyne 1878/England" l. c. Watercolor on paper/board, sight size 13 3/4 x 4 1/2 in. (34.7 x 12.0 cm), framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. N.B. The firm Wailes and Strang descended from the original stained glass firm founded by William Wailes in Newcastle-on-Tyne in 1838. After the death of William Wailes in 1881, the firm continued to make stained glass under the leadership of Thomas Rankine Strang (1835-1899), the son-in-law of William Wailes, with Margaret Janet Wailes, Waile's daughter and Strang's wife, acting as a designer.
