John Whorf (American, 1903-1959) House in Summer / A Double-sided Composition Signed "John Whorf" l. r., titled and inscribed faintly "Pink House" on the reverse. Watercolor on paper, 15 x 20 5/8 in. (38.0 x 52.4 cm), framed. Condition: Reverse with lake scene, sheet affixed to window mat with masking tape around the perimeter on the reverse. Provenance: Descended within a Winthrop, Massachusetts, family. N.B. The watercolor composition on the reverse, which is signed "John Whorf" l.r., shows a lake with two figures in a rowboat pulled up on an island shore.
