John Appleton Brown (American, 1844-1902) Marsh View, Probably Essex, Massachusetts Signed "J. Appleton Brown." l.l., with a canvas stencil from Meade, Dodge & Co., Boston, on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 20 x 27 in. (50.8 x 68.6 cm), stretched with Boston tabs, in a frame liner. Condition: Minor abrasion l.l. and beneath frame liner, minor craquelure, surface grime, subtle varnish inconsistencies.
