Dale Philip Bessire (American, 1892-1974) Le Conte in April Signed "Dale Bessire" l. r., titled, dated, and signed "...1941/Dale Bessire" on the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 30 x 36 in. (76.3 x 91.7 cm), framed. Condition: Craquelure with areas of lifting, retouch, surface grime. Provenance: Acquired c. 1930-40 in Indiana, then by family descent. N.B. Le Conte probably refers to Mount Le Conte in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee.
