Southwest Polychrome Pottery Seed Jar, Hopi, possibly Nampeyo, c. late 19th century, the upper half painted with dark brown and red-brown abstract bird and moth devices on a buff-colored background, (the bottom with shelf wear, stabilized hairline crack across the bottom), ht. 8 1/2, dia. 13 1/2 in. Provenance: Collected c. 1912 by a couple working for the railroad and living in Winslow, Arizona. The present owner purchased the jar from their family.
