Two Chintz Pockets and Assorted Needlework, Lace Collars, and Trim, Connecticut, late 18th/early 19th century, the two chintz sewing pockets were made to be rolled and placed in a larger pocket, each with five compartments in the interior, faced with different printed cotton chintz patterns, one compartment containing wool felt needle holders, together with an embroidered white cotton pocket with a note affixed to it inscribed "Patty Hull's work bag. She was born Dec, 1784 & married to Welcome Arnold Browning Dec. 9, 1807 & died March 8 1874. I think she had this bag some time before she was married. She was in her 90th year when she died."; together with three white embroidered lace collars, a lace fichu, two lace cuffs, a long and short length of lace trim, and a floral beaded band signed "S. BROWNING," (minor wear, toning), pocket lg. 15 1/2, 14, 8 in.
