Set of Eight Presidential Limoges China Oyster Plates, Haviland & Co. , late 19th century, underside printed with replicated designer's signature Theodore R. David, each molded with five oyster shell wells, on blue and green kelp ground, scalloped gilt rim, underside of rim printed with Presidential eagle, dia. 8 3/4 in. Note: Design patent date of August 10, 1880, suggests the plates were made for President Rutherford B. Hayes.
