Orchestral Interchangeable Musical Box by Lecoultre et Fils, with thirteen eight-air cylinders accompanied by central twenty-four note organ, six optional engine-turned bells, drum and castanet, nickel-plated movement with massive double-spring barrels, tune selector, safety check and engraved speed control and tune indicator, in quarter-veneered walnut case with incised motif on the front, lid interior with recessed panel of figured-walnut, ormolu carrying handles, and matching table with cylinder storage drawers and turned tapering legs, the wind-chest with label in Spanish Cajas de Musica ... Lecoultre et Fils .... calle Estados Unidos 1251, Buenos Aires , two framed tune-sheets by Allard & Sandoz , overall wd. 50 in., cylinders 14 1/2 in., (treated worm holes, lid defective). Provenance: From the original owner, the vendor's great-uncle composer Jose Pi de Carabassa, who wrote the music for one of the cylinders. The extensive programme is mainly operatic, and the movement is in good unrestored condition.
