Small Closed Mouth Belton-type Socket Head Doll, "Marguerite," c. 1880s, blue paperweight eyes, closed mouth with outlined white space between lips, even cheek coloring, impressed 1 on back of head, original blonde mohair wig, straight wrist jointed composition and wood body in original finish (some paint flaking at joints), white cotton undergarments, handmade maroon silk and velvet dress and hat, gray-green silk stockings, tan kid boots fashioned from glove fingers, ht. 10 in. Provenance: Hand written note is with the doll along with the paper label which has come off the torso, Au Paradis Des Enfants Paris Rue de Rivoli , the shop from which "Marguerite" came in 1889.
