Brass Surveyor's Compass by William King, with 6-inch diameter silvered dial signed Willm. King, Termple=barr Dublin Fecit in ribband around a central Tudor Rose motif, seven-point rose with large fleur-de-lis at North, needle ring divided 0-360 and 0-90 in four quadrants on the inner rim, steel needle with faceted brass hub and lifting-arm, narrow detachable arm held by wingnuts (one damaged), staff mount and sights, lg. 17 1/2 in., (old repair to one sight, two chips in glass, overall patination on dial). William King is listed as working at Temple Barr, Dublin, from 1767-1784.
