The Legitimation League was an organization first formed by Individualists, Socialists, Communists, Anarchists, and other free-thinking Victorians to argue in favor of the rights of illegitimate children in 1893. Shortly thereafter, the group began to focus on the advancement and promotion of freer sexuality that did not require marriage.
