Charles and Ray Eames ESU 240-K Birch plywood, zinc-plated steel, pylon fiberglass, enameled Masonite, rubber Herman Miller, Zeeland, Michigan, c. 1950 Natural top over two black laminated shelves in white case panels with double sliding doors, imperfections commensurate with age, ht. 32 1/2, wd. 47, dp. 17 in. Provenance: From the Estate of Jill Mitchell (Virginia Mills), a student at Cranbrook in the 1940s, where she won awards for her work in woven and printed textile design. During her time there she became a lifelong friend of Charles and Ray Eames and Eero Saarinen, later working for both.
