Rare Gold, Baroque Pearl, Emerald, and Pink Sapphire Ring, Marie Zimmermann, by 1922, set with a baroque pearl framed by cabochon emeralds with cabochon pink sapphire accents, completed by a basketweave band, size 4 3/4, maker's mark. Note: Pictured in The Jewelry and Metalwork of Marie Zimmermann , p. 208. This ring was also one of five pictured in Hanna Tachau's article on Zimmermann in International Studio , January 1922. Marie Zimmermann (1879-1972) metalsmith, jeweler, and designer was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She studied at the Packer Collegiate Institute, Art Students' League, and Pratt Institute. Her diverse influences included Egyptian, Classical, and Chinese forms, and she experimented with these motifs. She ran her studio at the National Arts Club in New York City from around 1910-1937. Her eclectic work is in numerous museums in the United States including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
