Wucai Covered Jar, China, 17th century or later, guan form, heavily potted, painted in bright enamels with phoenixes amidst dense scrolling foliage and peony blossoms, the domed cover with similar decorations, base unglazed and unmarked, ht. 14 1/2 in. Provenance: Acquired in 1964 from Frank Caro Chinese Art, New York, to the present owner by family descent. Original receipt available.
