Jean Lurcat (French, 1892-1966). Ceramic earthenware plate with decoration of modern bird on leaved branch in dark brown within orange to iron red borders on mustard yellow ground. Inscribed and signed on back with "Dessin J Lurcat Sant-Vincens VD 4". Diameter approximately 8.5". Provenance: L'Amateur, Buenos Aires, Argentina, whereby acquired by the Estate of Mr. Joseph Gilbert of Atlanta, Georgia on 3/7/70. Copy of purchase receipt available upon request.
