Two Jizo of the Six Paths of Existence, Roku Jizo, Japan, early 18th century, both standing on a gilt double lotus throne surmounting an elaborate relief dais which holds the round halo, Hosho Jizo is standing with palms joined in the mudra of prayer, Jiji Jizo is standing with his right palm upwards in the mudra of protector of the earth, both figures have flowing robes decorated with polychrome, low relief brocade patterns embellished with gilt, glass urna on the forehead and painted eyes, ht. 22 in.
