Scrimshaw Whalebone Busk, possibly by George LeCluse, a London South Sea whaleman, c. 1845, with three engraved reserves, depicting allegorical, literary, or historical figures, two figures portrayed wearing crowns above and below a scene depicting a woman embracing a man holding an axe beside an apparently slain figure lying on the floor, further embellished with flowers, scrolls, and arch borders, (warping), wd. 1 5/8, lg. 15 1/4 in.
