Japanese Makura Dokei with Two Dials, late 19th century, arched acid-etched dial surround with false pendulum and two calendar apertures, 4-in. traditional Japanese fixed hand with rotating dial above the 3-in. silvered western-style Roman numeral dial, chain fusee movement with verge escapement and rack and snail striking, spring-powered alarm is set on the Japanese dial, fully engraved backplate with signature (in Japanese), all in a hardwood bracket clock case with brass carrying handle on top, fabric backed pierced brass sound frets on sides and brass ogee feet, ht. with handle extended 17 in.
