LOT NOTES Francois Mondon (French 1694-1770) was an ebeniste who worked alongside other esteemed furniture makers and artisans of the time such as Pierre Migeon. He was based in Faubourg Saint-Antoine, a suburb of Paris known as a hub of furniture manufacture and sale since before the time of Louis XV. With scrolling vegetative decoration and marquetry, the asymmetrical handles and detailing in gilt bronze, with a cross piece between the drawers and a red marble tabletop, two drawers below and two above separated by a cross piece, with stamps under the tabletop reading and attributing the commode to the work of Francois Mondon, and indicating that it had been reviewed and approved by the height: 85.5 cm (33 5/8 in.), width:133 cm (52 3/8), depth: 65.5 cm (25 3/4 in.)
