indian ink on paper 22. 5 x 29.7 cm (8 7/8 x 11 5/8 in.) signed Burliuk in ink lower left PROVENANCEAcquired directly from the Artist by Myron Lyzon King of Hampton Bays, Long Island, neighbor and close friend of David and Marussia BurliukIn supplementary writing in pencil, Burliuk annotated the drawing in the upper right and left, as well as lower left. The annotation lower left reads, 'dry Gulch, (indian ink) 1930 , near Canarcie [sic]'. Upper right: 'Old Mill / Kwins [sic] county NY' and upper left: 'Van-Wicklan Teresa Palmer.' This allows us to identify the location of the drawing in what is present-day Old MIll Basin, New York, which is just west of Canarsie in Brooklyn. It may be that the name on the upper left of Van-Wicklan refers to the owner of the house depicted in the drawing.
